Chef Pete’s new restaurant Pinch of Salt is an exciting new addition to the Chiang Mai culinary scene.
Chef Pete has a first class pedigree in dining excellence, earning his apprenticeship at the 5 star Crown in Melbourne, Australia and most notably the world famous NOBU where he cooked for celebrities such as Harry Kewell. He learnt some of his magical craft from Christy Tania who was the celebrity Chef on Master Chef Australia season 4 and 5.
At Pinch of Salt you get an intimate dining experience, with personal and interactive cooking. His menu is fabulous and surprisingly very inexpensive. Actually, cheap would be a better word for food of this quality, taste and unique experience.
Pinch of Salt only has two rooms with 1 dining table in each which makes dining here unique. You can sit back and relax or interact and chat with Pete as he prepares your delicious cuisine. Chef Pete lives upstairs, Pinch of Salt is his home. Dining here is like having your own 5 star personal Chef for a ridiculously low price.
Chef Pete enjoys cooking food by request. Just ring him up, tell him what you want, give him a budget and he will create you a wonderful feast. Chef Pete can create a wonderful 3 course menu for under 500 baht which is amazing. Looking for something a little more special, Chef Pete can cook it all from succulent Seafood to divine Duck.
Some of the standard Menu delights include:
- Aromatic fermented Pork balls, crumb topped with Cape Gooseberry Chutney (98 baht)
- Duck salad – in house smoked Duck breast served with Apple Chutney and hoisin sauce (149 baht)
- Grilled Pork salad – tender grilled Pork neck served with tamarind sauce (149 baht)
- Buta Kakuni – Pork belly braised in soy sauce and served with rice and passion fruit syrup (169 baht)
- Chicken Parmigiana – Crispy bread crumb Chicken breast (169 baht)
- Pasta De Chiang Mai – Pasta sauté with Anchovy and Cajun chili and Chiang Mai sausage (169 baht)
- Mango mousse sticky rice and crispy butter stick (99 baht)
Brownie with vanilla cream and paprika (99 baht)
Small local beers are only 60 baht and large beers 90 baht. He also stocks a small range of craft beers. At Pinch of Salt, you just help yourself to the fridge, there are no staff besides Chef Pete.
Don’t expect silver service here, dining at Pinch of Salt is like eating at home. It is truly a personal, interactive dining experience with your own personal quality Chef at an affordable price.
Pinch of Salt makes it into our Top 10 list of Best Restaurants in Chiang Mai due to the unique experience, outstanding value for money and delicious food. Perfect for groups of 4 to 10 people but make sure you ring ahead in time so Chef Pete has time to prepare and purchase fresh ingredients.
